Martha Joy Huffman Herndon, 72, of Rome GA passed July 6, 2015. Preceded in death by her mother and father Hoyle and Laura Huffman and sister Elizabeth (Tuta) Steoppler. Mrs. Herndon is survived by her husband Terry Herndon, daughter Suzanne Herndon, son LtCol Kenneth Herndon and wife Ashley, Grandsons Foster, Griffin and Cooper.
Martha Joy was active in Retired Teachers Association, Three Rivers Garden Club, PEO Club, The UMW of 1st United Methodist, and an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
Service of remembrance will be held Saturday July 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Rome GA with Dr. Robert Brown and Pastor Angie Whitworth. The family will be receiving friends starting at 10am in the Wilder Center directly following a service at 11am in the sanctuary.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Martha Joy. We had some good times and good laughs in high school. And lots of talks about boys! I was so glad to see her at the reunion 5 years ago and get to catch up. She was still a lot of fun and will be missed.

Martha Joy was a friend and active in the youth group at FMC Greenville. We had a lot of good times there with all the activities we did. It is sad to hear of her passing but I know she is without pain now. My sincere sympathy to her family. May God give them comfort and strength during this time.
