We lost this extraordinary persona on September 11, 2004. Many of us are lost without her indelible spirit marking the cadence of our lives.

Helen was one of us that really made a difference. Her obituary detailed some of her accomplishments and read like a Nobel Prize description.

The things that I remember most about Helen were her friendliness and her great sense of humor. In fact, it was her humor that helped a little group of us make our way through Chaucer, Milton, and other grad courses at Mississippi State. Helen kept us laughing through those grueling classes! And now, Helen and Emery's granddaughter and my oldest grandson are classmates in school at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Small world, isn't it?

I'm sure that memories of Helen will always remain with the members of the GHS class of 1960.
