Cynthia Moore

Cynthia Moore, 74 of Brooksville passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017.

Cynthia was a dedicated educator in Hernando County for over 40 years, most of those teaching 5th grade.

She was the President of the Hernando County Teacher's Association (HCTA) for two terms, and was a member of FEA-Retired. She served one term as an elected official of the Hernando School Board. She was member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 42 years.

Cynthia always stated she did not have children of her own, but she did have hundreds of children she touched during her lifetime, through her years of teaching, being on the School Board and the many years of volunteer work. She would give her home phone number to all of her 5th grade students should they need help with homework assignments. She also loved her cats as she did children.

Her generosity with students did not stop there. While volunteering at Brooksville Elementary School on a daily basis, after retirement , we witnessed on numerous occasions, Cynthia provided to families in need.

Cynthia Moore had not only her family from Mississippi, but a family consisting of many friends from Hernando County.

She is predeceased by father and mother, James and Chrystabel Moore.

She is survived by her sister, Miffy Woods, of Greenville, Mississippi; aunt, Mozelle Hobbs, 101 years of age of Greenville, Mississippi; 6 Nieces and Nephews, Heather McCluskey, Guy Lindsay, Tennie Kay Simpson, Angie Watts, Marion Woods, and Davie Woods.

Friends will be received Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Brewer & Sons Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel from 5-8 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Johns Episcopal Church at 1 P.M. with Interment to follow at Brooksville Cemetery.

She was a true and special friend to many in Hernando County. She was the one who always cared and kept in touch in thoughtful ways.
Cynthia, there is no greater treasure than a very special friend. You were loved and appreciated.

AS Marion, Felicia and family stated, "Thank You, for being the person you were to so many people". WE LOVE YOU!
