GREENVILLE — Graveside services for Max Curtis McWhorter Sr., 71, of Greenville, will be at noon Saturday at Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at his home after an extended illness.
McWhorter was born Feb. 19, 1942, in Marie, the son of Alice Holeman McWhorter and Earl Curtis McWhorter. His life’s work was in radio and television, and he had been retired from Mississippi Educational Television for 10 years. His passions were horses, German Shepherd show dogs and ham radio. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Greenville.

The last time I saw Max was at the 2000 Reunion. He intoduced himself, because I did not recognize him. At the time he did not look like the fastest guy on the football team. Nor did he look like a 100 yard Dash Man. He could run backward/sideway faster than I could run forward. R.I.P. Max, a really nice person.
