Tommy died July 26, 1989 in Greenville.  After graduation in 1961, he owned Jones Gun Shop. 

Survivors include his three sons, Thomas James, Jones, Jerry Jones, and Glen Jones; his sister Glenda Milam of Heidleburg and a brother Jerry Jones of Greenville.
