Arthur and I were members of Boy Scout Troop 54 which was sponsored by the American Legion and he was one of our junior leaders. He was very skilled in outsdoorman activities. He had attended Miss.State for three years then entered the Army in 1967. In June of 1968 he was named the "Sky Soldier of the Month" of his division. He was a corporal and had completed one year of service in April and had signed up for another. He was in the Green Berets. He was honored with the Purple Heart and the Air Medal.

I sat in front of Arthur in Senior Math - half solid Geometry and half Trigonometry. I guess we must have talked a lot, because we ended being friends after that class. When I heard that he had been killed in Vietnam, it made me very sad. In the early 90's we were in Washington DC and I looked up his name on the Memorial Wall, along with that of Tommy Jaggers and Barry Crosby.

Authur and I had several classes together.
We usually sat close together because of our names being
close alphabetically and we became friends. He was always
very competitive and fun to be around. I was very sad to
learn of his death. Authur I.O.U. as do we all!

Rest now in Peace, my brother

On 17 June 1983 the US Army approved a tab like his Airborne tab above to be worn above it. The Army recognized that the job his unit of the Rangers were always being called upon to perform special missions. As Rangers, you had to volunteer for it and then go through special training to become one. Those of you who knew Art, know how special he was anyway. As of member of the class behind the Class of '64, I would ask you to allow me to add or "award" this tab to Arthur's collection of patches, ensignias & medals posthumously from the Class of 1965.
