My brother Jimmy died Jan. 11, 1971. After graduation Jimmy attended Delta State University for two years and married Rhonda McGehee in August of that summer. He then joined the Air Force (he and Joe Galey who is now deceased joined at the same time) and was stationed in Colorado and later in Columbus, MS to finish his term. He returned to Greenville and was in his third year at Delta State where he was studying to become a doctor. He had his internship application from the University Medical Center but became ill during Christmas vacation and passed away on January 11, 1971 after a week in the hospital. An autopsy to determine the cause of death discovered that Jimmy had a rare, fast growing form of cancer that developed in his body and travelled to his brain.
The Mary O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center in Ocean Springs, MS has a Performing Arts Room dedicated in Jimmy's memory.
I still miss him after all this time and it was a special privilege to share this with you.

Thank you Paul, for being so prompt and filling this in when Jimmy's sister sent this info. I didn't realize that Jimmy and I both attended DSU.. It is great that we can read all about him now and that his IN MEMORY page doesn't look so blank. Maybe this will encourage others who may know more information about other IN MEMORY classmates to send us information about them. Great job as usual.. Roz
