i'm back.................full of knowledge, and don't know how to use it!

Jobanna, my Mother's Day was strange, too. We lost electricity at 8 Saturday night, and it didn't come on until my preacher said the last Amen Sunday (Church is right down the street from my house, so we were in the dark there, too.) Had to help Jim hook up generator at 7 am Sunday morning, and I am not a morning person! Tripp came that afternoon, and I had to cook dinner for him! Water went off after electricity came on, and when it came back on, I went to Mother's to get the air of her lines, and busted a pipe under her house! Home Health is coming today, and they're probably going to turn me in because she has no water.......thank goodness for Jim, is just fixing it himself! Also, Jim got butted in the nose by a horse, and looks like he has been in a fight - so, next year, I am skipping Mother's Day...........

Hey Susan, glad you are back. We must have talked an hour last night and still did not finish. I talked to Betty Pollard and so glad to hear she is coming to the reunion. She also said Ruth Ragsdale is coming. I had a good mother's day but sounds like you should have skipped that day...LOL Don't forget about you know who!!! Hey George, where are you??? You have an errand to run for me and Lynn G., remember?

05/11/09 02:14 PM #1255

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Marilyn,

Betty Pollard and Ruth Ragsdale were such great athletes!
Seems like girl athletes didn't get the recognition back then like they do today, and that's a shame!

I can't wait to see them! I know Pollard is gonna make us laugh...she had a great sense of humor!

A while back, the forum was talking about songs we wanted played. I posted, but was ignored, so again, I am going to put............WILDWOOD FLOWER......I remember, and I may be wrong, that was always the last song played at the dances, and we all held hands and went round and round in a circle! Did I dream that?

05/11/09 02:20 PM #1256

Marilyn Kelly (Palmer)

That sounds right. Wasn't Green Onions played at intermission? Maybe we both were dreaming. Don't forget about the band music played at the pep rallies. The band was awesome! Ya'll made the pep rallies so exciting. I remember the band had a special version of Dixie that brought everyone to their feet. Loved it! Also remember some of the band members would get to school early on Friday mornings and play outside for a mini pep rally. GHS had the best band in the state.

05/11/09 02:33 PM #1257

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Our pep rallies were the BEST!

You Cheerleaders always had the best skits!

When the curtains were opened the band played "March Grandioso" - and ya'll danced, the crowd cheered and waved flags, and the football players sat over in their corner with their "game faces"

You do realize we are bringing a tape of "March Grandioso" and "Dixie" and you are supposed to do your dance at the reunion!

Marilyn Kelly (Palmer)

Yea right...who is bringing the oxygen tank?? Would love to hear the music again. Bring it please! I think the football players should have a little scrimmage game myself against the St.Joe players...LOL What say you?

05/11/09 02:49 PM #1259

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

If Jim didn't have to move, I think he could still play!

05/11/09 02:51 PM #1260

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Rick and Wayne are on the forum right now...........How 'bout it?

05/11/09 03:01 PM #1261

Chad Taylor Cook

Hey Susan & Marilyn, how are you both. The football game sounds like fun. I'll play but will have to use my walking cane. Be the only way to keep em off me. LOL

Chad

PS: might ought to have an ambulance standing by with oxygen and stretchers. LOL We's ain't young anymore.

I might be late but I will be there! Don't start eating without me.

05/11/09 04:19 PM #1266

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Marilyn - the phrase we were trying to remember is

"There ain't nothing in the middle of the road but yellow lines and dead amardillos"

05/11/09 04:37 PM #1267

Marilyn Kelly (Palmer)

Thanks...I have thought and thought but could not remember that.

05/11/09 04:39 PM #1268

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Anytime - "That's what friends are for!"

Now you can probably sleep tonight not worrying about that!

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

I talked to Ramona Rhodes today. It was really easy, just called the Post Office in Merigold, and she answered the phone!

She sounded great! Doesn't know if she will make it to the reunion. I surely hope she does. Jim was in that group that used to ride. He still loves horses, and raises "non-rendering plant" quarter horses!

05/11/09 04:49 PM #1270

Martha Tonos (Saia)

Gloria...looking forward to the brunch!! It will be so good to see all of our classmates and enjoy some girl talk! Thanks for doing this!

05/11/09 04:52 PM #1272

Marilyn Kelly (Palmer)

I hope Ramona will come. She was always so pretty and sweet. I thought I remembered Jim used to ride with
the north Greenville crowd. He told me on the phone the other night he wanted me to see his horses. I can't wait.

Where is Linda Burnett, Debbie Beckman and all the others that used to write on here. Get back on, we miss ya!

05/11/09 04:52 PM #1273

Martha Tonos (Saia)

BTW...where are Donnie M, Bubba, Chris, Bobby, Michael T., and the rest of the St. Joe guys? Would love to hear some of your stories! Maybe it would jog our memories!
