Big Chas W....good stuff! I was whining about not remembering Leslie, and now I'll be whining about him not being here anymore!

THIS FROM CECIL ON ANOTHER FORUM THREAD. WOULDN'T WANT ANYONE TO MISS THIS CLASSIC!

Leslie and i carried a suit case up on Nelson street with a bob cat in it and sat it on the corner of a busy intersection and watched as the suit case was picked up. You won't believe the sight of that, still laugh thinking about it

My family moved to Galveston after I graduated from GHS. Leslie and a friend drove to Galveston in the summer of 1972. He ran into my brother George on the beach and they came by the house to visit before they left town. I remember hearing that he died in a car wreck on his way home to Greenville. Sorry, I cannot remember who was with him on the trip.

I remember Leslie as a fun loving guy that had fun in all he did.A good athelete that always gave a 110 per cent.He loved to laugh & would pull a prank on you in a heartbeat. If he sat behind you in class,he always put a pencil in your back,if he needed to ask you something.SUCH A GREAT GUY & I agree he left this world way too soon.

When I think of Leslie, I remember him dangling his book which was tied to the end of the blind "string" outside the second floor window at E.E. Bass. I think this was in Ms. Burneau's (sp?) class (English teacher). Not sure if he was trying to dangle it in front of the window below in order to give someone in that class a "sign" or a chuckle for the day. Of course, we all thought it was pretty funny except for Ms. Burneau (sp?). I also remember Leslie's house being right across from Carrie Stern if my memory serves me correctly. I always thought he was a "cool" guy.

I never knew Leslie directly, but in 1972, he was seriously involved with my best friend, Debbie La Mastus. They talked of marriage after her graduation. She was so in love with him. He was in her every thought every day.

I remember the phone call from her that day he died . Her world was shattered, her grief was uncontrollable. It was all so very sad. I worried how she would ever recover.

Later, life moved on and Debbie found another love and married Dennis Massey. She had 35 wonderful years of marriage and raised two strong and solid sons, up until November of 2009, when her war with breast cancer, after many prior victories, was finally lost.

I only just learned of her loss last night. It is gratifying to know that she is now with her parents and loved ones ....and somewhere, she gets to see Leslie again.

Led and Tommy lived a couple of doors down at Moorhead. I remember very well their wreck. It also seems that 2 or 3 other formates were killed in accidents also. Tough year, 1971 - 1972.

Led was a fine fellow. Thought highly of him and Tommy, too. Tragic!
