Abby was always very friendly. It says she died in 71, but I don't think that is accurate. I have this memory of her at the tenth reunion, I think. I know she was gone by the twentieth because we had that laughing incident at our table during Ike's devotional, when someone says out loud "Abby Oakes is DEAD?" and it was just one of those silly moments. But Abby was an original who went all the way through school with us, and was in kindergarten too. It is sad, here and gone.

Maybe I dreamed this, I don't know, but I have a memory of Abby calling Kay Barnett from the Country Club,at a reunion, trying to get her to just get in her car and come on over. Heck she lived right there in Greenville!
I had told Abby the story of having a date with Kay the night before graduation and putting a big hickey on her neck (she was fair-skinned and had red hair) so when she was in line in the long row of us wearing caps and gowns, everyone's neck looked pretty much the same, except Kay's with this big hickey on it! Look at the Vespa photo and you will find the hickey. Abby thought that was funny and said "let's call her!"
I think that happened, but I am not really sure. If it was a dream, it was a good one. I just remember Abby as happy all the time.
