David was my friend since the first grade at Carrie Stern (1950).  In high school he introduced me to southern gospel music, which I still love to listen to.  Although we had little contact during our adult lives, he will be sadly missed.

David and I knew each other since we were 5 years old. We grew up doing a lot of things together. We each had a paper route that joined the others. It was David and I together the day David rode down the levee and his chain came off his bike. No brakes. After crashing I had to get his grandmother so he could go to the hospital. We talked quite a bit and sent e-mails as I also live in Texas. He is with the Lord now and much better off. I will really miss him.

David and Clinton lived on Walker, down the block from me when I was growing up on Washington Avenue. We spent many childhood hours together, and if my memory serves, he taught me how to tie my shoes. I've been in touch with Clinton at the Mississippi state archives in recent years and regret that I haven't seen David in many years. Condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear about David. I remember how polite and friendly he always was. My condolences go out to his family and love ones.  Ruthanne Whitfield Lucey

I went to David's funeral Saturday. It was a lot of people there. It was very sad in one way but we knew he was with the Lord. They played a few songs that he recorded. His brother Clinton did not come as he had other things to do and could not make it. I remember Clinton from his younger days, so this did not surprise me.
