Alvin Ronnie Campbell

November 4, 1942 - February 23, 2019

Alvin Ronald(Ronnie)Campbell, son of the late Billy Murray Campbell and LeeAnn Massey, was born November 4th, 1942 in Dallas Texas. He died peacefully on February 23rd, 2019. Ronnie grew up in Greenville Texas and was a graduate of Greenville High School in 1960. In 1965, he graduated from East Texas State University with a degree in Industrial Arts. He was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Ronnie enlisted in the United States Air Force in May 1966 and retired after 26 plus years of active service in January 1993. He then spent 10 years as a Federal Civilian Servant retiring in October 2007. Ronnie loved life! He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing and was a revered racquetball player. Many Generals requested to play with Ronnie when visiting the base. He also coached peewee football and baseball for the teams his son Mark played on. He was a Dallas Cowboys fanatic and could yell at a tv like no other. His passion was woodworking and he truly enjoyed making plaques, clocks and shadow boxes for fellow service men and women. Ronnie also had a talent for making furniture. He absolutely loved hunting and fishing, especially in Colorado. Ronnie was very funny and loved being around people. Ronnie was tried and true Air Force Blue. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Yvonne Prather Campbell and brother Terry Bob Campbell. Surviving are his sisters Cynthia Bicknell(Danny)of Bedford TX, Debbie Henderson(Ron)of Mineloa TX, sister in law Melinda Campbell of Larue TX, daughter Kathryn(Ryan)McDaniel of Beavercreek OH, son Mark(Cathy)Campbell of West Chester OH, stepdaughters Kim(Marc)Thomas of Summerville SC and Dania(Ron)Joens of Berkley CA, stepson Roger(Mary Kay)Crownover of Greenville TX, granddaughters Bethany Magee, Erica Augustine, Alexandra Crownover, Victoria Crownover, Maegan McFarland, grandsons Troy Crownover, Brandon Kellar, Nicholas Thomas and Adam Schachter along with many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 21st, 2019 from 2pm-4pm at Lynch Funeral Services 4238 State Highway 34S. Greenville, Texas 75402. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, South Carolina or Wounded Warrior Project.
