 Judge Guy Morphew, Jr., 75, of Greenville, passed away on    Thursday,  April   19, 2018 in Denison. Funeral services will be held at 10  A.M. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will  be from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Guy Morphew, Jr. was born on October 20, 1942 in Greenville to Guy Morphew, Sr. and Dovie Marie (McWhorter) Morphew. On October 3, 1961 in Commerce, he married Sarah Lois Kinser with the late Rev. Lee Alexander officiating the ceremony. Guy and Sarah were married for 56 years. He was a protective and loving husband, father, grandfather and caring son. He retired from Raytheon after 35 years of service. Guy served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff from 1977- 1982 and became a fully certified Peace Officer from 1982-1985, where he served as Captain of the Sheriff’s Reserve, Hostage Negotiator and Fire Arms Instructor. He became a Reserve Police Officer with the Greenville Police Department from 1985-1990, where he served in the Narcotics Division and as a Tactical Team Fire Arm Instructor. During those 13 years, he accrued 1100 hours of training and an Advanced Peace Officer’s license and over 20,000 hours of volunteer service. In 2007, he became the Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Greenville.  He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Morphew of Greenville; father, Marvin Robinson of Greenville; daughters, Kathy Nutt and husband, Donald of Anna and Cindy Morphew-Magie of Rockwall; grandchildren, Brandon Magie of Rockwall, Nicholas Nutt of Anna and Noah Nutt of Anna; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Robinson; biological father, Guy Morphew, Sr.; grandparents; one aunt and numerous uncles.

Pallbearers will be grandson, Brandon Magie and Officers of the Greenville Police Department.  Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Nicholas Nutt and Noah Nutt.

In memory of Guy, the family asks for memorials to be made to a charity of your choice.
