My name is Angela (Walker)Garcia, and I am Janie and Jerry's daughter. I signed in under my Dad because he told me about this website. It has been five years since my mother passed away, and when I saw her name and then her picture, my heart started beating so fast...and tears swelled up in my eyes. I still feel so sad that I lost my mother when she was just 61. There is nothing more unfair then a woman that was an angel on earth and treated people the right way to die of the horrible disease of cancer.
I sent my Dad other pictures of her and her obituary to add to this site too for you to read.
She really enjoyed all of her high school friends and her high school memories. She shared so much of those with my brother, David, and me.
She even kept her baton twirler skirt! :-) She certainly enjoyed reconnecting with her friends and sharing stories. I went to one of your class reunions and I had such a great time meeting a lot of you. She also shared with us the yearbook, and when she was awarded cutest couple with James...not sure of his last name though. :-) And, my brother just got some of her video tapes converted to DVDs... from growing up and high school...including some dances she went too plus her twirling the baton! Of course, none of them have sound! So, it's a best guess what people were saying.
Although there is a permanent empty place in my heart, memories of the most beautiful woman I ever knew...my best friend/soulmate/mother...are what carries me through! I am convinced she is having the best time in heaven, and her and Elvis are on a first name basis!
Thank you for letting me share under my Dad's name on this site about my mother.
Proud Daughter of Janie Nelson and Jerry Walker,
Angela Lynn (Walker) Garcia
Mommy to Brittany (age 12) and Brian (age 7)
*Pretty sure my mother sends messages to me through my daughter! She's still keeping me in line even from the Kingdom!

Angela,Thank you so much for sharing your love and respect for darling Janie. I will say to you the things I said at the cementary when about 10 of her classmates and myself spoke with you after the service. You asked us about several instances that she had told you about. Unfortunately there were no bad stories to be told. The point is that your mom was first and foremost always a lady. That is the best tribute I can think of. I also remember hugging you and telling you that your mom did a good job. All I had to do was look at your beautiful face and the way you carried yourself...and there was Janie.
My best to you and yours,
Linda Bennett Oaks
