Birth: 09/27/1942 Death:11/18/2002
Marriage:05/30/1964
Carolyn Wall Tidwell, 60, of Paris left for a better place on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 18, 2002. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be attended by the family in a private ceremony near the farm in Wolfe City. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born into this world in Hunt County on Sept. 27, 1942, to Charles June and Willie Wall. Joining her were four sisters and one brother. After graduating from Greenville High School, she attended East Texas State University where she obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees and also pursued doctoral studies. Apart from the education she received, something much more important was found she found her husband and best friend, Ronnie Dale Tidwell. Carolyn and Ronnie wed May 30, 1964. From this marriage, they had three fortunate children. With the effort and sacrifice of both Ronnie and Carolyn, she was able to devote the early years to the care of these three children by staying home. Shortly after the last child began school, she entered the teaching field. Her first position found her at T. G. Givens Elementary School teaching adult education. She later moved to A. M. Aikin Elementary where she taught third grade for many years. She then moved to Travis Middle School where she finished her career as an eighth grade teacher. With both joy and sadness, she retired from teaching in May of 2001. With the children grown and her teaching work behind her, she turned her attention to her grandchildren, which at the time of her passing numbered five. As if those early years were to be relived, she found herself helping with homework and attending sporting events. She could also be found with those grandchildren and Ronnie in the First United Methodist Church of Paris, where she was a member. Not a day went by without her quietly sacrificing of herself for the benefit of her loved ones. Aside from the grandchildren, she also enjoyed accompanying Ronnie to the farm, where she would busy herself with chores. When her name was unexpectedly called, she left this world at the farm doing something that brought her happiness. Those wishing she were still with them include her husband, Ronnie Tidwell; her mother and father-in-law, Alyne and Cecil Tidwell of Wolfe City; daughter, Robin Halcomb and husband, Barry, of Paris; son, Wes Tidwell and wife, Julie, of Paris, Chris Tidwell and wife, Kerri, of Gainesville; five grandchildren, Matt, Jessica and Josh Halcomb, Sutton Tidwell and Alex Tidwell; siblings, Billie Jean Head and husband, Jimmy, of Greenville; Linda Sue Lowry and husband, Robert, of South Lake; Frieda Merle Boofer and husband, Glenn, of Greenville; and numerous relatives and friends who will miss her. With her passing, though, she joined her mother and father; a brother and an infant sister, in that better place.
