Wanda Smithey

Wanda (Talley) Smithey, 57, of Greenville died June 2, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Rolen will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born Nov. 27, 1951, in Greenville, Wanda was the daughter of Joe and Viola Wallace Talley. On April 8, 1972, she married Glen Ray Smithey in Hunt County.

She worked as a collection manager for Service First Credit Union. Wanda was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with friends and family at Oak Creek Country Club for a number of years. In her early years, she loved participating in activities with the Greenville Saddle Club. She loved the outdoors. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Her survivors include her husband of Greenville; son Jason Smithey and wife Lorica of Henderson; brothers Andy Talley and wife Connie and Randy Talley and wife Paula, all of Greenville; two grandchildren, Justin and Morgan Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents preceded her in death.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Riley, Boyce Porter, Scott Smithey, Ben Ramirez, Justin Smith, Terry Carpenter, Wayne Sickels and Benjie Talley.
