I did not know Martin in high school at all - we only met because he was part of my Dad's Applebee's Happy Hour Gang - and I used to go there in the afternoons to escape our shop's heat in the summer. I can still picture him at the bar with his iPad and daily Dallas paper, along with a beer and a shot of Rumple Minze. He always left the paper, so if I missed him, I knew he had already been there and I would take it home. We shared a common world view and had a lot of great conversations about antiques, collectibles, selling on eBay and other platforms, music, our shared California city experiences and a host of other topics. We also worked together on a couple of business venture ideas he had as he loved to use me to bounce tech pros and cons. He was hoping to move to New Mexico, so recently we were having some long conversations about the pros and cons since I've spent so much time there over the years. Martin had strong opinions about a lot of topics, but was always gentle and respectful - lots of self control! He is the third person to leave my Dad's Happy Hour Gang (one of which was Cliff Mauldin) - and he will be greatly missed by my Dad and myself.
