Lee Flowers Hamrick

As a car salesman for Delta Chevrolet in Greenwood, Sonny tried hard
to please his customers.  My oldest daughter was sure she did not
want the car we had in mind for her to take to college.  Sonny and her
dad had picked one that was sure to be safe and sent it home as a graduation gift.  Little did we know that my daughter went to Delta Chevrolet and talked to Sonny about an older model car that would not cost more but would be more in line with what she wanted to take to Ole Miss. Sonny filled the order with a price to please her dad and car to please our daughter.  Sonny was a member of the Catholic church in Greenwood. He always wore a smile and the high school youth at church enjoyed having him around to help with their projects. Submitted by Janice Ellis Ford

Lee Flowers Hamrick, III ...aka Hambone...Born a salesman, somewhere along the way he fashioned an excellent game of golf--whenever he got to play...Sonny and I were friends way
back from his days growing up on West President...When I came back to Greenwood in ' 79 when a couple of us purchased Kantor's, Sonny was the ace...He didn’t need a card file on customers--he knew if you wore a 44 regular or needed a 34 in the waist...and he was excellent at matching all types of clothes for his customers. honest with his customers, if you asked him if something went together or fit and he didn’t think so, his classic line was "I wouldn’t wear it"...that usually ended that question...Probably could have been a politician, again except he'd give you an honest answer…say politician because he new 75 percent of the Delta or so it seemed...when he left  clothing, he went into the car business, first selling, later in the financing end...Very good at trivia too...They tell me he has a son who's a pretty good golfer...I miss him...He loved the Delta and the folks in it.
