Charles D. Battis, 67, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born in Summit, NJ, Chuck moved to Hamilton at the age of 15 and was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School where he played both football and baseball. Following graduation, Chuck attended Rider University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Chuck was employed with Dow Jones as an Information Technology Manager until his retirement.

 

Over the years, Chuck was a member of St. Gregory the Great RC Church. He was so proud to support many organizations involving animals and loved donating his time to helping animals in distress within his community.

 

He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan and was passionate about watching the games with his sons. Throughout their lives, Chuck often coached his sons’ numerous sports teams, especially football and baseball. He adored his family and cherished every moment he spent with them, especially his grandson, Charlie.

 

Predeceased by his parents, Dewey D. and Rosemarie A. (Grillo) Battis and his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Keith Liedtka; he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tracee Battis of Hamilton; his sons, Charlie D. Battis and his wife, Isabella, of Farmingdale and Anthony and Matthew Battis both at home; his brother, Robert D. Battis and his partner, Colleen Kelly of Little Egg Harbor; his grandson, Charlie J. Battis of Farmingdale; his godson and nephew, Ryan Battis of Allentown, PA; his nephew, Michael Battis of Tampa, FL; and his many nieces, nephews, and loving family members - all of which he gave special nicknames to.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.

 

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
