Julie Bennett Self, 61, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, guided by family and friends who went before her.

Julie was a mom to everyone she ever met. She loved rock music, concerts and traveling. She lived for hugs and kisses from those she loved the most which included her once in a lifetime love (Jerry), her children, grandchildren and friends all around the world. Julie, with her infectious smile, was the glue that held a hodgepodge of misfit family and friends together. She would do anything for those she knew. Julie’s best quality though, was her ability to lend a hand even to those she didn’t know. 

Julie was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1960. She was the fifth of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann Martindill and Richard Bennett, her sister, Susan Chasteen, and her grandson, Kian Yarber. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; her son, Ian Maclellan (Amy) and daughter, Heather Maclellan (Michael Yarber); “my kids” Joshua Self (Julia) and Wendy Rogers (Sean); seven grandchildren she adored with all her heart, Kaleb Simpson, Isabella Self, Olivia Self, Kenzie Rogers, Paisley Yarber, Easton Rogers and Oliver Yarber; her brothers and sister; Mike Bennett (Sha), Steve Bennett (Linda), Rick Bennett (Becky), Tim Bennett, Mark Bennett (Elaine), and Marybeth Rollins (Jacob); numerous nieces, nephews, and many family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 20, at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.
