JOANNE SZOT (NEE SWEARINGEN) HAMMOND, IN JoAnne Szot (nee Swearingen), age 68, of Hammond, IN passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013. JoAnne retired as a Supervisor at Sears after a career of more than 25 years. She enjoyed serving and helping others, gardening, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. During her retirement, she enjoyed managing Beavers Bar in Merrillville as well as serving customers and friends. JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents: Archie and Geraldine (nee Bures) Swearingen; and beloved husband of 40 years, Frank "Ron" Szot. She is survived by her children: Brian (Sheila), Curtis (Jackie), and Becky (Bill) DeVries; proud grandmother of Nathaniel, Luke, Alyssa, Gerrit, Dylan, Morgan, and Ethan; great grandmother of Lorelei; sister, Geri Toth; nieces: Geri and Jennifer; and nephew, Christopher. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
