The Beginning (A poem for a friend)

No Tears, No Crying, Not Another Sad Face
I am here to tell you I that I had to leave this place
I know that there are many questions the most important is why
Or why I could not wait to say goodbye
But if you want answers and are still wondering why
I urge to lift your heads to the sky
It is better up here believe me I know, I am walking on streets paved in gold
But don’t worry about me, we are not apart
I know I have a special place within your heart
That’s where you will find me on the inside living
My life is not over this is only the beginning

To Alex:

A Mother’s Hands

I never thought people would be lost so close to me,
But your mother was close, she’s joined the Trinity.

Never thought I’d have to see your eyes hiding pain, and a hurt that only a son’s heart could hold.
Being strong for your family, making plans for your mother, not realizing it, but subconsciously already assuming her role.

You are understanding life’s sweetness,
like a little boy with candy in the sand,
remembering its taste and what it’s been
like to be guided by a mother’s hands.

Like water in dry places,
her importance you always did show.
Telling stories of a mother’s love,
A love that every son should know.

A mother’s love is perfect, ask cousin Tasha,
She understands. Soft enough for comfort
And stern enough if ever you raised sand.
Everyone in the house knew the strength that came from a mother’s hands.

She made no fuss about her business.
Made it simple enough for everyone to understand; now
God has called her home to harvest the love built up
In a mother’s hands.

Hands that were most powerful when put together to pray.
“Covering her family”,
Like the old folks use to say.

I wish your home were normal now,
With no tears to be seen, not one peep.
I wish you didn’t have hesitation about
Resting your head, or going to sleep.

We love our mothers, God knows we do,
And yet we don’t quite understand
The cost involved with possessing mothers’ hands.
We hold on as long as we can,
but God always shows us who has the strongest hands.

The hands that guided you and gave you your style,
Hands on loan from God just for you to hold a little while.

When you father your first child, you will clearly understand
That her sacrifice, love, and kindness were all part of the Master's plan to equip you, her baby boy, with the strongest hands.

Don’t worry about your mother,
She’s flying in style.
She’s earned the right to rest
A little while.

Continue to be strong for your family,
and share now what you understand,
who else can make heaven whole
but a mother with the strongest hands.

You are going to be miss
Your smile
Your friendship
A daughers love and
Your motherly advice
