Dear Teachers, Classmates, and Friends:
This July we will celebrate our first-ever Lakeview/Abundant Life Christian School Reunion! Our reunion weekend presents a wonderful opportunity to get reacquainted with our old haunts, and, most importantly, to reconnect as teachers/classmates. This weekend will allow us to share where our paths have taken us since we graduated. We are all part of a family of amazing people who were inspired, encouraged, and challenged as Lakeview/Abundant Life students to aim high and trust in God. Come join us in recalling student/teacher days with classmates and friends and much more! I hope that you will be part of the celebration during July 17-19, 2009.
During the weekend, we will hold certain social events as a class. At other times, we will have free time for you to get reacquainted with the area or spend some more time with your classmates. Family members are welcome at all events except where noted.

FRIDAY EVENING, July 17, 2009
6:00 pm—Family Social/Get Together: We start the weekend with casual dinner festivities at Frederick’s Family Restaurant (2178 Hwy. 62/412 in Highland, AR). We have a room reserved at the restaurant for our privacy. Dinners range from $6.99 to $13.99. We will meet at 6:00 pm. This is an optional event for everyone since many people will arrive on that day or evening. Feel free to attend if you can. Family members are welcome to attend.
SATURDAY, July 18, 2009
9:00 am—Tour of Abundant Life Church and Jesus is Lord Ministries area: We will tour our old church and school areas. We will meet with current church members to see how things have changed at the church. We will begin the tours at Abundant Life Church (26 FM 101 Rd, Highland, AR, 72542) and transition to tour the JILM area (located off Cherokee Rd in Cherokee Village). Family members are welcome. Estimated tour time is two hours. Dress is casual (jeans, shorts, t-shirts, etc).
12:00 pm—Informal Lunch: Families will meet for lunch at the Thunderbird Lower Building Recreation Center (N. Lakeshore Drive, Cherokee Village, AR, 72525). We will be eating some good food from Beach Club BBQ! Cost for the lunch is $5 per person ($4 for the meal and $1 extra for drinks (sodas, water, etc). Just outside of the Recreation Center are a miniature golf course and a pool if any children would like to partake in those activities. Costs for these additional activities are included in the attachments. Dress is casual (jeans, shorts, t-shirts, etc).
6:00 pm—Semi-formal Dinner: We will have an adults-only dinner at the Copper Feather (Cherokee Village Country Club) on Rte 175 (Cherokee Rd) just east of Flathead Drive. Menu will be a 2-meat buffet, which includes salad, vegetables, dessert, and tea. Cost for this event is $10.95 per person. This will be a chance to get some “adult” conversation in, and I am planning a DVD presentation so we can see who has changed the most! Also featured will be a brief address by our former Administrator, Jack Archer. This is the “big event”, so plan to be there! Dress is church casual (i.e. no jeans, shorts, etc).

Time TBD—Service at Abundant Life Church: This is a chance for you to attend the church service at our old church.
LODGING
I have reserved rooms and houses for the reunion at the following locations:

I have reserved fifteen 2 and 3 bedroom cabins. Call 1-800-331-5896 or 1-870-257-3258 and talk to Rita or Cathy to reserve your rooms. Deadline to reserve is July 1st, after which time I will release the remaining homes for other renters. Just tell Rita or Cathy that you are calling about the Lakeview Reunion. Cost ranges from $85 to $130 a night depending on your preferences for mountain views, lakefronts, and rooms.

I have blocked 10 rooms at a group rate for the reunion. Talk to Sonny, who is the general manager, to reserve your room. Mention that this is for the Lakeview Reunion. Phone number is 1-866-861-4376 or 1-870-856-4001. Deadline to reserve a room is July 1st, and after that time I will call to release any rooms that may still be empty. Costs for the rooms are $60 (1 queen bed) or $66 (2 queen beds). They do have an indoor pool.
COSTS
Obviously, cost is a concern in today’s economy. I have endeavored to keep costs down, and have included approximate costs as I know them TODAY. Two other items that will cost money are the recreation center rental (for Saturday’s lunch) and the reunion website. The recreation center cost is $75 for the first three hours and $12.50 every additional hour. I am anticipating we will use the center for about 4 hours, which will cost $87.50. The costs can be divided per family, so the more people we have the cheaper it will be. I set up a website and the setup cost for that was $19 initially and $9 per month after that…I will have it up for approximately 6 months. If you can donate any money to offset this cost I’d greatly appreciate it! To facilitate planning your budget, I have broken down approximate costs below:
Dinner Fri: $6.99 - $13.99 per person
Lunch Sat: $5 per person
Dinner Sat: $10.95 per person
Lodging: As indicated under lodging section
Recreation Center Rental: $87.50/# of families = cost per family
Website: Any donation you can give
CHILD CARE SERVICES
I am still waiting to ensure the church will be able to support child care. More to follow on this. Costs on this are TBD.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
To make this reunion a success, I will need to gather the following information from you by July 1, 2009, so we can ensure we have enough food, reservations, etc.
1. If you are attending, and number of family members coming.
2. If you will need child care for the dinner on Saturday night.
3. If you are utilizing the lodging arrangements or are staying with family in the area.
4. Any other classmates or teachers who are not on the list that we can get in touch with.
5. Pictures of you from “back in the day”, along with a recent photo for the DVD—you can send these electronically to me (genejen6@q.com).
