I'm going to miss seeing you around Horace. I remember when we started school at George T White in the 5th grade(no girls). This is when I first met Horace and many of the other African American guys. From the very beginning we got along like brothers and I cherish all of the friends I made and continue to have. Horace played baseball with us and he was good, batted lefthanded. The news of him passing was upsetting to me. He was truly a very compassionate man and I will miss him.

Your friend,

Daniel

Horace or Big Joe as we called him was such a gentle man, he was actually the first person I went fishing with, he was a great outdoorsman, a hard worker, a great friend and a wonderful family man. We were related by marriage, but before that he was man friend. We started out together from first grade until graduation, and just as Daniel noted we all became friends through sports and getting to know each other as people. I am glad I got to see him at the class reunion and by faith, we shall all meet again.
