Below is John's obituary as it appeared in the Augusta Chronicle on January 10, 2010:

APPLING, Ga. - Mr. John Thomas McCutcheon, Jr. age 40, husband of Michelle McCutcheon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 8, 2010. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Kiokee Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Hartman officiating. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. John was born on October 17, 1969 in Augusta, GA. He graduated from Harlem High School in 1988. In September of 1995 John and his father opened McCutcheon Heating and Air where he worked until his illness. John loved his Lord and drew strength from him over the past 6 years. (Scripture ) " I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble." But, take heart ! I have overcome the world. John 16:33 Additional survivors include, one son, Matthew and one daughter Sarah. His father, John McCutcheon Sr. and his mother Janet Overton and his step mother, Susan McCutcheon. Sisters, Pamela Brown and Lori McCutcheon and step sister, Carla Troupe. His grandmother, Alline Overton. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces ,nephews, cousins, in laws, and friends. John also had a loving caregiver of 3 years Cassie Heggs.
