According to his stepmom, whom I ran into about 3 years ago, he was assaulted at a ballgame in Israel, where he was playing on an American Armed Forces Baseball Team (can't recall what branch of the service). Apparently, there was a melee over a bad call started by the other team, and he was one of several injured. He died shortly thereafter.
My brother and his brother are best friends. I can ask him about the incident and find out what branch of the service he served in. I believe it was the Air Force
