Lake Shore Public Schools Food Service Director Steve Herron passed away on June 5 from a heart condition.
Herron, 31, was a manager for Chartwells School Dining Services, the company that administers Lake Shore’s food service program.

Herron began working with Lake Shore in August 2000. Herron supervised the district’s food service staff, planned menus and was responsible for ensuring that the district met state and federal food service guidelines.

Lake Shore Superintendent John Brackett said Herron would be missed for his exemplary work and dynamic personality.

“In a very short period of time, Steve endeared himself to the students and staff of this district,” Brackett said. “His unique sense of humor and work ethic set him apart from the rest. We’ll miss his expertise and abilities, but we’ll miss him as a person and a member of the Lake Shore family even more. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steve’s family.”

Patrick Dillon, the district’s executive director of fiscal services and operations, said Herron was an extraordinary human being with a “youthful personality, wonderful sense of humor, and a strong and loving commitment to his family and the Lake Shore community.”

“When he entered a room, he had the amazing ability to make those around him smile, regardless of the circumstance,” Dillon said. “He was one of the special ones, and will be sorely missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have met him.”

Herron is survived by wife Sarah and a 6-year-old son, Devon

The Class of 1989 will always remember Steve Herron.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve's family.
