Joseph DellaFera Obituary
Joseph DellaFera, 57, passed away peacefully at his home in Wethersfield, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Joe was born on May 10, 1965 in Hartford, the eldest son of Trina (Scata) DellaFera and the late John T. DellaFera. Joe earned the title "South Ender" where he attended Naylor School and South Catholic High School (class of '83). An excellent diver, he was the captain of the diving team at Goodwin Park. If he wasn't at Goody, you could often find Joe playing basketball at South End Park. He started working in restaurants during his teen years – some of his favorites were Pippi's, Carbone's and First and Last Tavern. After an adventure living in Atlanta, he returned to Connecticut. Landing a job in highway construction, Joe had found a job that he enjoyed. After a few years, he became a Traffic Control Supervisor for McClaine & Co., Inc. where he worked until his passing. Pop into any number of Hartford establishments for a cocktail and you would likely see Joe smiling, hanging with friends and beating everyone at darts. And you were lucky if you did because Joe could light up a room and make anyone feel welcome and completely at ease. Some of his favorite hobbies were collecting sports memorabilia and playing softball. An avid concert-goer, Joe had a vast collection of music. He loved his sports teams too – Celtics, Red Sox, Liverpool and especially the Giants. But nothing made Joe happier or more proud than his sons. Anthony and Matthew were the light of his life. Coaching them through little league was one of his great joys. He was their biggest fan at their football and basketball games. He was a most loving father, brother and friend to many. He is survived by his sons, Anthony and Matthew DellaFera; his mother, Trina; his brothers, Daniel DellaFera; John DellaFera and his girlfriend Michelle Giliberto; Michael DellaFera and his wife Michelle (Urciuoli); Christopher DellaFera and his wife Jessica (Borges); his nieces and nephews, John, Dylan, Hayley, Dominick, Ava, Christopher and Jesse. The family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate Joe's life on Monday, October 24th from 10:00 – 11:00 am, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, CT 06067, immediately followed by a Service and burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
