
Dewaine E. Mighty, of South Windsor, went home to glory, Tuesday, (March 25, 2003), at Bay State Medical Center, Springfield, MA. Born in Hanover, Jamaica, son of the late Vincent and Eulalee (Higgins) Mighty, he lived in Windsor before moving to South Windsor 15 years ago. He graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford, where he played on the varsity football team. Dewaine travelled throughout the six New England states as part of a teaching ministry spreading the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. People lives were changed by his testimony of God's grace, faithfulness and healing power. He had a love for all people and he loved to minister to the hurting and the lost. He owned and operated Mighty Creative remodeling until retiring for health reasons. He was a member of the Word Christian Center Ministries Church, Hartford. He leaves his wife, Linda (Isaac) Mighty; two sons,. Dewaine L. Mighty of South Windsor and Derrick O. Mighty of California; two brothers, George and his wife Loreen Higgins of Bloomfield, and Hugh and his wife Kathleen Mighty of Atlanta, GA; a sister Pauline and her husband, Lenworth Bunting of Hartford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives in Jamaica and Canada. The funeral will be Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m. at Word Christian Center Ministries, 1133 Broad Street, Hartford. Burial will be in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family will receive friends Friday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Samsel and Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor and Saturday from 9:30-10 a.m. at the church.
