Kathleen (Whalen) Hansen

Kathleen (Whalen) Hansen, 57, passed away on Friday, (May 15, 2009). Born December 29, 1951 in Hartford, the daughter of David J. Whalen, Jr. Of Granby and the late Rosemarie (Novello) Balcezak. She grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of Weaver High School Class of 1970. Kathy has been a resident of Barkhamsted since 1973. She retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. She loved animals especially her dog, Tucker. In addition to her father, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Adon Burrell of Barkhamsted; a grandson, Adon Burrell, Jr., and a baby granddaughter, whom she was looking forward to meeting July 7; a brother, David J. Whalen, III, of Ellisburg, NY; a sister, Linda Whalen Kocha of Jersey City, NJ; and a nephew, David J. Whalen, IV, of Lake George, NY. Kathy leaves behind so many dear friends, including her wonderful neighbors, who have helped her fight her courageous battle over the past 14 months. Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone for their love and support. "May God hold you in His palms forever, Mom. We love you and miss you terribly."
