Bill was not only big in stature, he was a giant in many ways. The large number of commendations he was awarded reflect his qualities and the fine person he was. He was a great classmate; caring, kind, giving, protective and loyal. Our strong band can n'er be broken.

Bill and I were high school buddies and we played Football together. In our senior year, I was a defensive end while Bill handled the other end. He was a big guy, especially wearing his football uniform. Years later at a West Point lunch with a few other Hastings High Vietnam Vets, I noticed how quiet and reflective he appeared. I had no idea he had served as a Navy Corpsman. Those guys put their lives on the line taking care of wounded Marines during combat. No wonder he had three Purple Hearts. But that was Bill all over. He was always there for you.
God Bless you Bill.
