WILLIAM F. "PUTT" PUOTINEN

 
William F. "Putt" Puotinen, 61, of Brookside Place, died Tuesday, June 29th at his residence following a long illness. Bill was born March 30, 1949 in the Bronx, NY, a son of Arvo Alexander and Grace Martha (Tabacco) Puotinen. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1966, received his BA from Hartwick College in 1972 and a master's in 18th century English literature from Oneonta State in 1976. For the past 25 years, Bill has worked at Northeast Parent and Child Society in Schenectady holding various positions including vice president of human services, director of operations, and finance manager until the onset of his illness. Mr. Puotinen served on the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities in Schenectady, was a member and past president of the Schoharie Kiwanis Club, a former member of the Schenectady Kiwanis Club, the Schoharie Rotary Club and was a member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). Bill volunteered with Northeast Parent and Child throughout the years and was an avid Yankees fan his entire life. Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Caramanica) Puotinen, whom he married August 24, 1972; one daughter, Elizabeth Puotinen of Schenectady; one son, Alex Puotinen of Schoharie; one sister, Diane M. Puotinen of Scarborough, NY; one brother, Victor Puotinen of Maryland; and his aunt Virginia Tabacco of Ossining. He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Christopher Puotinen.

Bill was a very cool guy! He was a wondeful classmate with a warm, welcoming, positive and supportive spirit. It was always nice to see him.
