Patrick Abrams

Patrick Pat Abrams, 24, of Hawley, formerly of Plainsboro, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, April 4.

He was born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Feb. 23, 1982.

Pat graduated from Penn State as a member of the dean's list in May 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. After graduation, Pat became a physical education and health teacher in the Stroudsburg Area School District. He was a member of the freshman football and varsity track and field coaching staff. Pat was also a former coach of the Hemlock Hurricanes Swim Team and the former summer sports director for Hemlock Farms Community Association. Pat was also an entrepreneur. He was starting his own business, "Those Guys" Landscaping, with his buddy Nate.

Pat was a Wallenpaupack Area High School and Penn State Alumnus. He was a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, Health and Human Development Alumni Association, and the Kines Alumni Association, Kines Club, SAEA, and PA State Education Association.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sylvan and Lois Abrams; his maternal grandfather, William Lockwood; and his uncle, Pat Lockwood.

He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Cecelia Abrams; a brother, Louis Abrams; and a sister, Lainie Abrams, all of Hawley. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Mary Helen Lockwood of Rome; his uncles and aunts, William and Peggy Lockwood of Michigan, Karl and Kathy Loewenberg of Pennsylvania, Eddie and Judy Lockwood of Florida, John and Elizabeth Troxler of Pennsylvania, James and Julian Lockwood-Risi of California, Sandy Lockwood of Pennsylvania, Christopher Lockwood of Colorado, Jeff and Beth Muskat of New Jersey, Marc and Marla Elkins of New Jersey, and Steven Abrams of New Jersey. He is also survived by his many cousins and friends.

Pat was a very loving, friendly, outgoing young man who enjoyed being with his family and friends. Anyone he ever met, he instantaneously touched their lives and they became a part of his life. He was an avid fan of Penn State football. He loved cars, sports, music, dancing, movies and life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, at St. John Neumann Church, Route 739, Lords Valley. Rev. Gerard Hawley will officiate. Burial will take place in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford. The family requests casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be made to the Patrick Abrams Scholarship Fund, c/o Penn Star Bank, Route 739, HC8 Box 8419, Hawley, PA 18428.

Farizet Charruf Semerena (Herrera)

I loved Pat. He made my life so much happier when I lived in PA. He was (and still is) part of my hearth and prayers. I miss you and your great way of looking up at life, and saying crazy things all the time but being serious when it was needed. You were a great friend Pat, we are always going to miss you a lot.
