Byron and I, as most knew, grew up together since 4th grade. We lived on the same street off of Grove Way on Ocean View Drive. We went to Kimball Elementry (no not the continuation part), Strobridge, and, Hayward High. We even ventureed off to "save the pillars of Old Hayward High.
We wound up seperated for 14 yrs., not getting a hold of each other until a couple of years before he passed. He really got into making jewelry. A shop on the Big Island, then back on the mainland in Beserkly, then back in Lahaina, Maui until he passed. We had finally connected before that through "Classmates.com" and fortunately for us, had a great time together.
Some of our "small group" of friends from the ole high school daze have managed to have our own reunions and reflect on our past good times, up to where we are in the present.
I'll always remember my dear friend and cherish the times we had!!!

Hey James,
Cardboard hill at the old Hayward High behind the Ag buildings...I still have my framed certificate for "Substitute Cafeteria Monitor" at Kimball...perhaps that sent me on a direction in life...
Byron was unique for his time.....a habitual in the Hashbury...a pure soul and a brilliant mind.
May we all commit to doing something positive in remembrance of those who moved on before us.
As for the pillars, the money raised from donations to move them to the new campus was embezzled by a teacher and students at the Kimball (reform) School. I briefly dated a student from there, and she described in detail the parties and stuff they bought with the money. And as usual for that time, no investigation was initiated and no charges were filed.

Byron lived by me growning up...so sad to see he left us at such an early age..way back from Kimball School to Strobridge to HHS...He lived around the block from me...Funny how we moved away and never realized we lived so close. I was on Oahu for like 22 years...

Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a
great guy. Wish I knew he lived in Lahaina
cause I live on Maui and we could have been
able to see each other and get caught up. Rest in peace.

I took many trips with Byron. Not road trips. He was a good guide. A real gentle person, he was.

Sorry to hear of Byron's passing.  I remember him from Strobridge, hanging out with Clara Miller & Ann Marie Kent. He was a very cool dude, rest in peace...
