Obituary for Gwendolyn Flack

On August 25, 2022, Gwen Flack passed away suddenly at her home. We will never forget how her laughter ignited the room, how her knitting treasures warmed us, and how she cherished her friendships. Her life adventures are full of travel, Cardinal games through all the playing seasons, and piecing together landscape montages. So full of fun at all gatherings, she was always one for good Bunko, creating delicious holiday dishes, hosting memorable celebrations, and sharing meals at local family-owned restaurants.

After growing her roots in Florissant, she graduated from Hazelwood Central in '76 and Southwest Missouri State in '80. Her urban flair sprouted in Lafayette Square, Parkview, and Richmond Heights. Here her love for all things real estate blossomed, and she wore many hats well; landlord, mortgage broker, and real estate agent.

Always staying connected, Gwen had large circles of friends and always took the extra time to check in. Her presence and the many memories she helped us create blessed us all. Gwen had the knack to make all of the unique St. Louis characteristics even better, be it barbeque events, community concerts, or enjoying Ted Drewes on those hot, sultry days.

Her legacy remains with two wonderful daughters, Jennifer Sawhill and Jessica Sawhill, survived by her brother, Tim Flack, and sister, Patti Stetak. She also is the sister-in-law to John Stetak and aunt to Thomas Flack and Jordan Flack. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Thomas and Carol Flack.

Gwen was a strong, independent woman and felt strongly about women's rights. In place of flowers, please consider donating to The Brigid Alliance or, as well, to St. Louis NPR. Her arrangements are coordinated by Jay B Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood.
