Jeffrey Alan Shropshire Obituary

Jeffrey A. Shropshire, 67, of Florence, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at Shoals Hospital. He was an Information and Technology Analyst and a member of College View Church of Christ. 

A visitation and memorial service will take place Sunday, August 31, 2024, from 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the home of Lisa and Dale Robinson, 459 Betsy Ross Lane, Florence, AL. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his younger sister, Laura Shropshire. 

He is survived by his wife, Robin French Shropshire; mother, Joan Shropshire; father, Benjamin Shropshire; daughters, Becca Shropshire, Libby Shropshire, Katie Shropshire; brother, Doug Shropshire; sister, Lisa Shropshire Robinson; and granddaughter, Kaira Shropshire. 

Jeff was an avid lover of history and music, a love which he instilled in his family, often playing the guitar and ukulele for them and roping his girls into his performances. He loved to explore new places, especially historical sites, and he could be counted on to bring those places to life with his knowledge and enthusiastic retellings of their history and significance. He was a vibrant man with many passions who spent countless hours reading about his interests, collecting tools and memorabilia, and being active in historical clubs. He believed he could fix anything, and his daughters spent many happy hours following him around hardware stores. 

Almost as much as he loved his friends and family, he loved his animals and he never balked at the latest stray his girls wanted to bring home. His family have fond memories of picking up and returning home from a road trip with the dirty ball of fur that would become his beloved shadow and adventure companion for many years. He could always be found with several dogs and cats squeezed in around him wherever he sat down. Jeff was a generous man, and a rock to his friends and family who always knew they could rely on him. His steady and practical presence, mischievous sense of humor, and his deep concern and tireless advocacy for the well-being of loved ones will be missed.
