Sandy Harper Hudnall

I've been busy raising a Firefighter for Henrico , A teacher for the Blind and am almost ready to turn loose my youngest son ,who is a calf roping cowboy and planning to attend Vet Tech at Blue Ridge Comm. College in the fall.I work in Special Education in the Hanover County School system.I am also a Clown in Alley #3, which comes in handy with my 6 Grand children.

As I watched my own children go through high school I had many opportunities to reflect back to NHS.Often I would think back to those football games and band trips. I remember Boonie Mary Margret Bowles and myself sing "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime". Then there was the time Ann Cockrell and I broke in to the Art and Speech room to get her play book.I felt so
brave. Of all my wonderful memories of friends and growing up it was the memory of two brave students who stood up for their rights and came to NHS to graduate with us, Sandra Martin and Vaughn Walker have often crossed my mind as life challenges presented itself. I don't know how they had that kind of courage at such a young age but I'm glad I had a chance to know them. I remember sitting in the clinic with Sandra as she cried because her boyfriend was in Viet Nam. I'm sure I wasn't as good as her friends she left at CHS but I tried to let her know I cared about her and she was not alone. So much history we lived and didn't realize at the time.
