Linda Sue Hurni (Hardy)

Spent many hours and much time with Marla...a quiet, reserved lovely lady....She was picked up for lunch everyday by Elsie from the Mansion when her dad was here for legislature...and then she became a permanent Helenite when her father filled in for Donald Nutter as I remember...a tough thing to do in Junior HS, making new friends returning to her home in Miles City and Billings and then back to Helena...Remember encouraging her to stay at school for lunch to get to know our class better....she would try it, IF I would go to lunch with her first..."Sure", I told her and that meant Elsie's home made chicken soup that day which was "special" for me...my entire house was not a fourth of the size of the big ships living room...

She loved her friends, not so much the" big ship" she was destined to live in.  She spent lots of time in her friends homes and was always welcome in "the norm"...as all girls she wished for a larger wardrobe, which believe me was more than sufficient....she called herself the Governor's pauper...and made us all laugh...She disliked being the center of attention, for where she lived...she always complained she had nowhere to sunbathe no privacy on "the ships lawn",  she loved to sit and bask in our yards sun and was always welcome...she had a very witty wonderful dry sense of humor and had so much empathy for others....she adored a handsome guy by the name of Mike Filinger...and yes it will be 30 years now on our 50th reunion that we  will have missed her....Gone but forever Remembered  Marla B....

Peaceful thoughts,

Linda Hurni Hardy
