John Clifford Hahn

John Clifford Hahn December 28, 2013, John C. Hahn embarked on his next great adventure, facing the challenge with a bravery befitting his life as an athlete and outdoorsman. John was raised in Helena, Montana, where he raised heck with brothers Kim and Corrie and sister Chris. Early on, parents Jim and Connie instilled in their children a love of mountains, and ski trips formed the core of a strong family bond. In 1983 John moved to Seaside, Oregon, where he married his love, Eileen. The two settled happily in Western Washington. John served proudly in the Montana National Guard, and his distinguished career in the Postal Service saw him ascend from letter carrier to Postmaster before his retirement in 2003. Truly remarkable, though, was his pursuit of personal accomplishment. In his early thirties, John discovered running. Through three decades, he amassed a room full of trophies and medals, checking off milestones like the Boston Marathon and Hood-to-Coast Relay. When John did anything... he went big. A lifetime love of snow and steep pitches led him to the tops of Rainier, Adams, Whitney, and countless others. He camped and climbed in Joshua Tree. He skied weekly with friends. In the summer of 2003, he bicycled self-supported across America. John appreciated the rewards of triumph through trial, and passed these values to his sons Michael, Nathan, and Josh. John loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. He liked his rock music loud. He loved to laugh and to make the room laugh. He loved Seahawks Sundays. And he loved each of his nine grandchildren with a very special part of his heart. From the Montana hills to the Oregon beaches to the Cascade peaks, we will remember and miss our son, husband, father, brother, and grandpa. He is everywhere, always. John's family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life February 8, 2014, 2pm, at The Mountaineers in Tacoma, Washington. RSVP and details at www.urbanfell.com/john
