Steven Kent Johnson VIEW PROFILE

Steven Kent Johnson

Steve was born on May 20, 1947 and passed away on April 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by parents Chuck and Erma Johnson from Helena, Montana. He is survived by siblings Chuck (Ginny) Johnson and Marcia (Peter) Sadowski, niece and nephews Scott (Ronda) Johnson, Stacey (Mark) Monahan, and his namesake, Steven Alexander Sadowski. Steve was raised in Helena, Montana, where he was an Eagle Scout and was the Student Body President for Helena High School. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle. He loved hunting and being in the outdoors. He moved to LeCenter, Minnesota in 1984. On July 10, 1987, he was injured in an industrial accident and became a quadriplegic. In November 1994, he moved into his specially designed house, where he lived until his death. Even though he used a wheelchair, he drove his van to Montana several times. He used to say, "He was the luckiest quadriplegic he knew". A special thanks to his capable and loving attendants - they gave far more care than required and loved him always. He loved living in LeCenter and the entire town became his extended family as everyone watched out for him and took care of him. The highlights of his day were with the coffee group. A memorial service will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church in LeCenter on Wednesday, April 28, at 10:30. A luncheon at the church will follow - please stay to visit! Steve’s ashes will be scattered in the mountains of Montana. Memorials preferred to: St. Paul Lutheran Church (232 W. Minnesota St., LeCenter, MN 56057), the LeCenter AA club (P.O. Box 12, LeCenter MN 56057) or the Courage Center (Courage Center, 3915 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis, MN 55422).
