Monte was born on November 7th, 1946 and passed away on Sunday, February 19th, 2017. Monte was born and raised in Helena, attending many of the elementary schools and then graduating from Helena High School in 1965. He then spent three years in the army. After returning to Helena he worked at several jobs with the state of Montana, ending as a Bureau Chief for the Montana Department of Livestock. He retired in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. He enjoyed a lifetime interest in black and white photography and a new found interest in wood-working. He was known for his intelligence, his kindness and his devotion to his family and his love of the outdoors and pistol shooting, his friends and his church.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Janet; his brother, Greg Nick of Seattle, WA; sisters Gini (Doug) Artley of Whitefish, MT. and Melinda (Dan) Shriver of Missoula, MT.; his mother, Jessie Nick of Whitefish; his sisters-in-law, Doris Andrews of Rapid City, SD, Elane (Ron) Murphy of Puyallup, WA; brother -in-law Robert (Nell) Iversen of Adamsville, AL; many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

His funeral will be Monday Feb. 27th at 1:30 viewing at 12:30) at Anderson Stevenson Wilkes funeral home on N. Montana, Helena.
