Daniel Howard Pollard

Thursday, February 27, 1947 – Monday, January 2, 2023

Daniel Howard Pollard of Helena, Montana, died at Cooney Convalescent Home on January 2, 2023, of natural causes. He was seventy-five years old. Dan was born February 27, 1947, to Anna May and Slim (Orla) Pollard. He served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970during which time he spent 9 months in Japan.

Daniel was gifted with an extraordinary mind. He was curious and inquisitive. He had read the whole Encyclopedia Britannica by the end of high school. He had an eidetic memory which allowed him to recall everything he read. He attended Montana State University for a year. In Speech Class, he presented such intelligent thought and language the teacher passed him after his first speech and said he didn’t have to return.

This genius also bore consequences of loneliness. He was often misunderstood. Much of his life he chose to hermit himself from society and found joy in studies of the world religions, all types of philosophy and cutting-edge science, especially electronics, magnetism, bioenergetics and so much more.

He was a drummer from an early age and played at the family-owned Silver Spur with the Bob-N-Aires, Jimmy Owens and in many house bands. He loved music all his life.

Dan was a stone mason. He shared in building the natural spring fountains on Mac Donald Pass with his brother Doug and the Myrna Loy theatre floor with David Culver, as well as may other projects. He spent many years working at Helena Recycling.

He was generous to a fault. He had the strange habit of gifting something that would be needed in the future. He was clairvoyant, thoughtful, and possessed a great sense of humor. He was a good listener and gave sage advice. He had a strong body and a big heart and many will miss him.

Dan is survived by brother Doug and sisters Delores and Danita and their children and grandchildren. He has three children: Jason Pollard of Kansas City, Missouri, Rachael Marcy of Denver, Colorado, and Ruby (Robin) Trahern of Pritchett, Colorado and 6 grandchildren.
