Ellen Mae "Ellie" (Sullivan) Sullivan-Sellars
Tuesday, August 12, 1947 - Saturday, November 23, 2024
The following was posted on Facebook by Ellie's daughter, Katie:
Well friends, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to tell anyone, and I'm so sorry that Andrew and I couldn't call each of you directly. But, our wonderful, beautiful, incredible, strong, and inspirational mom, Ellie Sullivan-Sellars passed in her sleep Saturday night. We're just doing everything we can to keep putting one foot in front of the other at this point. She is already so missed and I know our pain will be shared by all she touched with her heart, her knowledge, her optimism, and endless love for everyone lucky enough to have known and loved her back. She was truly one of a kind and her love knew no stranger.
Please know we're planning to do a celebration for her in January, when everyone has had the chance to celebrate the holidays and hold the ones they love especially close. This was her favorite time of year, so raise a glass, share a memory, and know we'll see you all to share our favorite stories and grieve the loss of this beautiful soul together soon.
I love you all, and I'm so, so sorry. I know this is a loss a great many people will feel deep in their hearts, too.
Ellen was born on August 12, 1947 in Helena, MT to George and Nancy Lu (Craw) Sullivan.
She had a half-brother, Verne and a half-sister, Patricia.
She married Joseph H. Sellars on April 12, 1980. They had three children, Andrew, Joey and Katie Sellars.
At the time of her death, Ellie was living in Indianapolis, IN with her daughter Katie and Katie's two daughters.
She had been quite active in the theater community. One person on Facebook wrote, "As a director, actor, singer, and in general, a magnificent force of nature, Ellie touched the lives of countless hundreds of thousands of people who were in her casts, who were in her audiences, who encountered her through the theater, in so many ways."
A Celebration of Life for Ellie Sullivan-Sellars was held Saturday, February 1st at Footlite Musicals in Indianapolis and was available to viewers via Zoom.
