Earl William Gooley

Earl William Gooley, 45, of San Francisco, formerly of Helena, died June 26 at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco following an extended illness.

He was born in Helena on June 13, 1946 to Earl E. and Aleen (Kain) Gooley. He graduated from Helena High School and attended Montana State University and the University of Montana prior to graduating from Carroll College with his BA degree. He later received a master's degree.

During college days, he worked part-time at the State Historical Society and Library, the railroad and the state Water Conservation Bureau.

After receiving his teaching certificate, he taught at the State Girls Vocational School in the Valley. In 1970 he moved to California where he taught in the San Francisco Bay area.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

In May he was preceded in death by his father in San Francisco.

He is survived by his mother, Aleen Kain Gooley; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The body will be brought to Helena for graveside services Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Rev. Ed Hislop officiating.
