Michael Roy Morrow

January 12, 1945 - April 14, 2009

Our brother, Michael Roy Morrow, 64, of Helena was taken from us on April 14, 2009, by an unsuspected illness.

Mike was born Jan. 12, 1945, to Raymond W. and Rosemary J. (LaSart) Morrow in Helena.

He was a very athletic and artistic man, who was dedicated to his sports, his artwork, and most of all, his family and Native American ways. As a wrestler, he went to State in '63 and placed fourth in his division, with his Helena High teammates. He was also an avid track and field participant and also played football for Helena High School. He at one time played football with President John F. Kennedy while he served in the Marines.

When he was 22, he was awarded the Sgt. Shriver Scholarship for the Experiment in International Living, and traveled to Istanbul, Turkey, and lived with Turkish royalty.

He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends on the Dearborn and the surrounding areas around Helena.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rosemary (LaSart) Morrow; brothers, Charles, Louis, Tracy and Sid the Kid Morrow; and sister, Peggy Stephens.

Survivors include daughters, Cilver Rose, Sharon and Sandra Star; sons, John and Pat Morrow; brothers, Richard Morrow and Mike Norris; sisters, Junie Henderson and Melva Jean; grandchildren, Shayla, John, Seth, Kayla and Ella; and great-granddaughter Miah. Also surviving are Lois, James, Lisa and Shawna Morrow and Shawn La Mere; and a cousin, Monte Norris, who he also loved dearly. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and cousins and many friends too numerous to name. He was very loving and respectable man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Chapel services will be held Monday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at Hagler-Anderson Chapel with Native American Honors. Family prefers memorials to the Helena Indian Alliance, 435 N. Last Chance Gulch, Helena, MT 59601.
