Gary Scott

Gary Scott, beloved husband, son, father, grandpa and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Bellingham, Wash. Gary was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Elko, Nev. He moved to Montana as a young child and while growing up loved racing flat track motorcycles. He attended Helena High School and graduated from Western Montana College in 1991.

Gary married Ronda, the love of his life, on July 30, 1993. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Canyon Ferry Lake where Gary loved to cook for everyone. They spent many vacations watching sprint car and NASCAR races and traveling on their Yamaha motorcycle. Gary was also an avid downhill skier. He loved sharing time with his grandson and bought him his first car before he was two years old.

Gary worked for the Montana National Guard for 27 years and retired as a CW3. At the time of his death he worked for Derek Brown Construction.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Scott, and stepmother, Ellen Scott.

Gary is survived by his wife, Ronda; sons and daughters-in-law Chip and Tammy Tetrault of Salt Lake City, Brian and Angel Tetrault of Helena; grandchild, Austin Tetrault of Salt Lake City; parents Nora and Tom Lanning of Post Falls, Idaho; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Judy Scott of Helena, Norm and Darlene Scott of Helena, Tom and Deb Lanning of Park City, Utah; sisters and brothers-in-law Diane and Bob Nicklay of Missoula, Mary Ann and Jeff Ranger of Helena; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law Bill and Mary Rook of Helena, and Ronald and Patsy Byrd of Dillon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Curt and Vickie LaFountaine of Helena, Bob and Vicky Byrd of East Helena, Hank and Maggie Peterson of Fairmont, Kelley and Mary Patzer of Montana City, and Bill and Nicki Rook of Yakima, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Derek Brown, Jack Walsh, Skip Score, Jerry Scott, Norm Scott and Bill Willis.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2210 Dodge Ave., with Pastor Ken Ross officiating. Interment will be at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by the Montana National Guard Honor Guard. A reception will follow at the Fort Harrison service club.
