Terry has a special place in my memory. Back in 4th or 5th grade, Terry was a marble shooting magician, literally a real master. He would show up in the morning with only a few marbles and his favorite shooter. By the end of the school day, his pockets were bulging with marbles he had won from us lesser players. Unlike some of my classmates, I had a very limited stash of marbles so I quickly learned not to play against him. The thing that impressed me even more was his casual, almost nonchalant attitude towards his own expertise. He never bragged or showed off. And he was always cheerful.
We didn't have much interaction in high school although he was always friendly. I'm glad I got to know him if only in limited circumstances.
