Marion Shoffner Burge was born on November 4, 1907 in White River, Independence, Arkansas, USA. His father was a physician named H Gideon Burge. His mother was Dana or Idonia Shoffner Burge. He grew up in Arkansas and attended Arkansas State College. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army for WWII in Little Rock. After that he attended University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS. James Lee Burge (Jim) was born March 28, 1946 and graduated in the Hemet High class of 1964. On February 2, 1948 the family was blessed with the birth of a son George Michael Burge. Mr Burge taught World History at Hemet High during the 1960's. He also started the adult education department in Hemet which is ongoing today. He passed away on December 15, 1989 at the age of 82, still living in Hemet. He is survived by sons, Mike and Jim. All his students and friends and family miss him.
