Jim was probably my best friend in Hemet. We played a lot of basketball and challenged the famous WEDGE at Newport Beach. When he went to Stanford we kept in touch and he visited us in the summers and during vacations. I remember talking to him on the phone once after he received his law degree and went to work in Gillette, Wy. He was living in a trailer and it was about 5 below [the antiHemet].

Later we visited him and he took us fly fishing in Billings, his last home. Jim's laughter and enthusiam for life could fill a room, and although it's been 10 years since he drowned in Costa Rica, I miss him still. He was the only one who called me the Kahuna.
