Mary Ann's sister provided information to me for our site.
Mary Ann Martinez Berumen was a very happy and private person but she had her moments as does everyone. Her favorite color was purple so every year a week or two before her birthday she would go around saying "I want something purple" and we better get her something purple or else we would never hear the end of it. She didn't have many hobbies, only she loved to cook. She contracted diabetes at a very young age (9) so most of her life she was stricken with diet, dialysis and insulin injections. She married her first love David Berumen on July 14, 1990. They were together for nine years until she was called to be with our Father in Heaven on Aug, 5, 1999. She wasn't involved in any sports or extra curricular activities due to her illness, but was always willing to help when needed.
MaryAnn and I were very best friends, we had fun going out to dances, hanging out with our friends and just being young and free. We enjoyed hanging out and going to Amarillo. I guess you can say she was quiet, but when she was around her friends and family she was not quiet at all, I know a different side to her. We grew up together and were friends from middle school up into adulthood, until her death. MaryAnn had several friends and relative whom still live in Hereford. MaryAnn will always be known for her kind heart and that smile she always had on her face (especially when she was up to something). Although she had diabetes from a young age she never let her illness get in the way of her enjoying life to the fullest, we had many memories that we shared and I continue to share with family in friends. MaryAnn will be greatly missed and be my forever friend.
I agree with Angie. Mary Ann was a wonderful person. She and I were kind of related because my sister married her cousin. We were never really close friends as you would call it but the day that I got married. Her and Angie were there and I will NEVER forget it! I will never forget her. To this day I stop and think of the good people that I met throughout my life and Anna is one of the first people I think about. I am not very religious now in my life. But for some reason I do believe that God takes the Good people first. I miss Anna and how funny she was when we would hang out once in a while. But I also know that she is in a better place and not in any pain. Anna I Will NEVER forget YOU!
